April 2013 Hammer In

Bill Rickard was our host for the April hammer in. His shop is spacious, uncluttered, well-lit and well organized. It seems that there is a workstation for anything you might want to do. There was even a table for cutting art glass to fit punched tin lamps.  The overhead crane and huge access doors have obviously aided in setting up the shop just as Bill has envisioned.

Ken Pilarczyk an industrial blacksmith, explained the materials and methods for creating a hammer head. Tips like pre-drilling the eye to aid drifting, and what material to use educated the onlookers.
